Today’s society is undergoing a transformation that puts the private and the consumer at the center of the economic and financial system. In this sixth Inside Blockchain video interview, Mir Liponi, Blockchainlab CCO, talks about Blockchain technology and its application to the bitcoin.
The bitcoin blockchain allows all citizens, who decide to use it, “to have the bank in their pockets“. For Mir, this “can change the lives of all people” as “it responds to a need that we all share [that of] financial freedom and managing our financial properties more independently“. She continues saying that the revolutionary force of blockchain lies in its ability to put together and solve both social and political problems as well as economic ones.
Blockchainlab’s CCO highlights a problem related to the improper use of this word. In fact, if, on one hand, the blockchain technology can lead to the achievement of important milestones as that of bitcoin, on the other hand, in many contexts, it is used only as a pretext to ride the wave of innovation without having skills to use it to solve real problems. For this reason, when we asked her opinion about the future of this technology, she argues that it should go back to its original purpose, that of bitcoin, which represents more and more a store of value rather than just a digital currency.
Mir works with Blockchain at the blockchainlab, an Italian ecosystem that is unique, welcoming and continues to be a center of excellence for new projects and the development of existing ones.
Among the activities of Blockchianlab, there is the organization of the Bitcoin Milan Meetup, a monthly event, during which people interested in this topic meet, talk about the applications and evolutions of this technology and do networking.
