Italy’s most mysterious coding contest is back in Venice on October 6th. Same location, same enthusiasm. With a simple yet audacious mission: to illuminate the coding world through an extraordinary and captivating event. We showcase people’s talent and creativity by challenging them to create in complete (or near-complete) darkness, all within a tight time frame.

Code in the Dark, Italy’s first and only blind coding contest, is all set to astonish you with its fourth edition. We are resolute in our mission to promote and propagate digital culture, providing a platform for talent and bridging the gap between the masses and an ever-evolving technological universe.

What Is Code in the Dark?

It’s a challenge for code enthusiasts. Picture this: “coding blindly”, with a time frame of just 15 minutes and no visibility of your code. A pc with a basic text editor is the only tool participants have at their disposal during the competition.
An immersive, incredible, and, let’s be honest, slightly crazy experience, all in pursuit of becoming the Code Champion of 2023!

Not just a competition, it’s also a party!

There’s more: CITD isn’t just a competition for HTML/CSS “gurus”, it’s a wild party open to people of all ages and professions.
Free beer and pizza, smoke machines, strobe lights, and an electrifying live DJ set (!): a celebration that fuses coding with unbridled fun!

Do We Have a Theme? Absolutely ^^

For the first time, we’ve chosen a common theme to define the fourth edition: we’ve let ourselves be enchanted by the Cyberpunk ambiance. That’s right, you read it correctly.

To mark the occasion, we’ve revamped the design of T-shirts and bags, expertly designed by our collegue Paolo, an illustration wizard. The result is a limited edition that’s not only a must-have but also stunningly beautiful.

A recurring feature: the legendary ’80s and ’90s booths, open to all video game enthusiasts. Take a trip down memory lane to rediscover the magic of timeless classics and bask in the nostalgia.

Embracing Sustainability

And there’s more. Sustainability is at the heart of our event, as we’re dedicated to making it eco-friendly and reducing our impact on the environment. Our goal is to create a contest that’s as inspiring as it is responsible.

Last, but not least. Code in the Dark also serves as a testing ground for cutting-edge technologies, and… we have more surprises in store, but we’ll save that for later.
